Introducing Excalibur: one agent for all your AI coding plans

Bite-size posts on what xcb does for people who pay for more than one of Claude, Codex, and Devin, each with its own illustration.

Drafted with AI from the source code and reviewed by Claude Opus 5.5 (claude-opus-5-5) independent editorial review.

Excalibur puts all your AI coding plans behind one agent

Excalibur (xcb) is a free terminal agent for people who pay for more than one of Claude, Codex, and Devin. Type a task once, and xcb picks which of your accounts runs it. No more switching logins or windows.

It favors the quota that is about to reset

Quota you don't use by the reset is gone. xcb reads each Claude and Codex account's usage, no more than five minutes old, and favors unused quota that is about to reset.

Hit a limit mid-task and the task moves on

When a provider says an account hit its usage limit partway through a task, xcb moves the task to another account or model that can take it, with its original instructions. You don't paste the prompt into a new window.

Tasks keep running after you close the terminal

Every task runs in the background. xcb tasks lists them across all your projects, and xcb attention collects the questions your agents are waiting on you to answer.

Start work on your desktop from your laptop

Link your machines with xcb link. From any of them, xcb fleet shows what each one is doing, and xcb dispatch sends a task to the one at home. Task content is end-to-end encrypted, on a relay you run yourself.

Your own sign-ins, in each provider's own tool

xcb runs Claude Code, Codex, or the Devin CLI under your own sign-in, in an OS sandbox, and holds each account for one task at a time. It never falls back to an API key, and it never touches API traffic.

Made for people who run agents all day, and for agents

xcb is for developers juggling more than one coding plan. It works for agents too: another program hands xcb a task as JSON and gets back which account ran it, how it ended, and the answer.

Every plan you pay for, used before it resets

The idea behind Excalibur: every coding plan you pay for works as one, from whichever machine you're at, and none of your quota expires unused while another account sits at its limit.

What xcb doesn't do

xcb doesn't raise any usage limit and has no model access of its own. Providers work on your files through xcb's tools, without their plugins or MCP servers. Codex and Devin need an Apple silicon Mac. If one plan covers your work, you don't need xcb.

Free, open source, and on Apple silicon Macs and Linux today

xcb is free and MIT licensed. Latest release: v0.16.3. Install it with one command on a Mac with Apple silicon or on Linux, connect a Claude account with xcb setup claude, and open your thread with xcb.
